It has been possible to produce salad and lettuce types, which have a short growing period of 2-3 months, for 12 consecutive months of the year with varieties bred for different seasons in open and under cover. Irrigation Lettuces consume a lot of water, they require plenty of water from germination until harvest. The period when they need the most water starts 15 days before they reach their normal harvest size and continues until harvest. Considering the climatic conditions and soil characteristics, care should be taken to keep the soil constantly moist. The most commonly used irrigation methods for lettuce are roller and drip systems.
