In currant cultivation, regions other than very hot, arid and foggy places do not cause problems in terms of climate types. Its cold resistance is higher than other berries. Only black currants are sensitive to winter seasons. Currant cultivation is not recommended in settlements where there is danger of frost. Since it is the earliest blooming species among grape fruits, its flowers may be exposed to frost in temperatures dropping to -2 C or -3 C. Unsuitable weather conditions during the flowering phase cause shriveling. Red Currants are fully productive 4 years after planting and black Currants 4-5 years after planting. With good care, their lifespan can be 12-15 years or even up to 20 years. It is possible to get the first harvest in the 2nd or 3rd year after planting. On average, it can last up to 20 years. Between 600-1200 kg of product can be obtained from the decare. The taste, smell, vitamins and other biochemical properties of grape fruits have many benefits for human health. Blackcurrant, on the other hand, was consumed abundantly by people in the periods before vitamins were found, seeing that it gave resistance to cold. Currant belongs to the group of original grapes in botanical terms. In the distinction made according to the stem types of plants, it is included in the group of stems. Currant is a species of Ribes of the family Saxifragaceae of the order Rosales. The first scientific research on the genus Ribes was conducted by Janczewski (1904) and Berger (1924) was included in the research. Currant Pruning They are small shrubs whose leaves fall off in the winter season, and some of them are evergreen. Their roots are fringe-shaped and do not go too deep. Their branches are weak. It produces new shoots from the root every year. Fruits are in small clusters. The berries on the clusters are round and very brightly colored. Since the shell is translucent, the seeds inside the berries can be in different varieties. The berries are both sour and sweet. Currant harvesting should be done when the berries are newly ripe and the youngest (pay close attention to this). The leaves are transversely voluminous. Currant adapts best to temperate climatic conditions. It does not like too wet and too dry soils. Since they wake up early in spring, planting in the fall increases the yield. In horticulture, blackcurrant should be planted at a spacing of 1.20×1.40 m (minimum planting distance) and 1.70mx220m for the recommended blackcurrant. Unpruned currants do not give good crops. For this reason, old branches should be pruned. It requires a good spacing process, leaving the young shoots in place. Cut off the useless branches from the roots and leave one or two of the middle ones. These shoots rejuvenate the sapling. The most acceptable of these is the red currant with large berries. This grape variety is useful and has a lot of juice. It is suitable for making syrup. Currants should be picked when they are well grown and ripe. When examined in terms of the environment in which it grows, it is a fruit suitable for growing in most regions of Turkey.
