ECB membrane

You are here:

ECB stands for ‘Ethylene Copolymer Bitumen’ and is a granular raw material obtained as a result of the thermoplastic mixture of ethylene copolymers and bitumen.

What is ECB Geomembrane?

ECB Geomembrane is a synthetic waterproofing membrane produced from ECB granules. The production of ECB Geomembrane is extremely simple. ECB granules – without any additives – are passed directly through the extrusion line. ECB Geomembrane is generally 1.5, 1.8 to 2.0 mm thick and 1.05, 1.50 to 2.10 m x 20 m roll sizes. No reinforcement is required in ECB Geomembrane production due to the high mechanical performance of the material itself. However, in the types of materials to be left bare on the roofs, reinforcement is used to prevent the material from corrugating and to maintain dimensional stability. The reinforcement used is glass fiber. Since glass fiber is also a flexible reinforcement, it does not affect the elongation at break and tear elongation values of the material, it harmonizes with the material and can stretch together. A signal layer is laminated to the ECB Geomembrane surface, which will be covered with any layer such as concrete, screed, thermal insulation plate, etc., during production. The signal layer is silver gray in color and is thin enough to be easily peeled off in case of any damage that may occur on the material surface under field conditions. ECB Geomembrane application is very simple. It is generally applied by free laying and bini welding method with automatic welding machine. In this application methodology, the welds are pressure tested, a visual test is performed on the signal layer and the application is delivered. In cases where it will be left exposed on the roof, it is applied by free laying, mechanical fixing and bini welding method. In this application methodology, the welds are subjected to mechanical test or spark test.

ECB Geomembrane Advantages

Environmentally friendly (PVC, plasticizer and chlorine free, no toxic gases); Complies with LEED Criteria High tear, puncture and shrinkage resistance Maintains dimensional stability in temperature changes, has standard UV resistance Resistant to plant and tree roots Minimizes labor risks as it is applied with automatic welding machines Highly resistant to sparks and flame retardant Highly resistant to sparks and flame retardant Resistant to sea water It is joined by double row welding and welds are tested with compressed air (except for bare roof applications with mechanical fixing) Thanks to the signal layer on it, Provides visual testing against puncture and damage (except 30 series with glass fiber reinforcement in the middle) Can be applied in all weather conditions Old ECB membrane and new ECB membrane can be homogeneously welded together even after years Highly resistant to solar radiation, UV rays and ozone Compatible with polystyrene, polyurethane and bitumen, can be applied directly on old bituminous coatings Does not age, does not lose its properties during the economic life of the structure
