MERSİN – Santaş İzolasyon Sistemleri, which has been operating on water and heat insulation in Mersin since 2000, has expanded its working area with the EPDM rubber membrane it started to purchase from Bursa last year. Thanks to this product, the company, which provides advantages in both time and application, aims to increase its sales by 10 times this year. Explaining that they have been focusing on agricultural irrigation pools since 2008 and that the material they used at that time came from America, company owner Nurettin Madenlioğlu said, “Last year, we started using EPDM rubber membrane produced in Bursa and now we can reach the product in the size we want whenever we want.” Explaining that they have started to provide services not only for the construction of agricultural irrigation pools, but also for many other areas such as construction foundations, ponds, roofs, wastewater pools and irrigation canals, Madenlioğlu said, “Even for pools up to 1,000 to 1,500 tons, a single piece of product is sent and we only have to lay this product. Thus, we have gained advantages in terms of both time and application.” Madenlioğlu pointed out that PVC or polyethylene is mainly used in the construction of systems such as foundations, pools or canals in Turkey and said, “However, the life of these products is not long enough. EPDM rubber membrane is a material with a lifespan of 75 years.” Stating that they carried out exemplary works for public institutions and organizations last year and received great appreciation, Nurettin Madenlioğlu noted that they expect serious demands for this year. Stating that the necessary correspondence with public institutions has started and that they are slowly starting to receive orders, Madenlioğlu said that he aims to multiply his sales by 10 this year. Nurettin Madenlioğlu pointed out that with the increase in public procurement, the attention of the villagers turned to EPDM membrane and said, “This product is not yet fully recognized in our country. However, the fact that public institutions started to use it increased confidence.” Noting that the company they purchased from in Bursa will increase its capacity and that they will increase their annual production of 800 thousand square meters to 8 million square meters with the 2nd factory investment they will make this year, Madenliğolu said, “The start of mass production will also reduce costs. The prices of EPDM rubber membrane have come down to PVC prices and I believe that we will be able to reach more competitive prices with this investment. Therefore, we expect a significant increase in demand in 2010.”
